Kim Ghattas is a BBC Reporter, born and raised in the Middle East and her new book is a nuanced, deeper look into what is behind the turmoil in that region. “Black Wave, Saudi Arabia, Iran and the Forty Year Rivalry That Unravelled Culture, Religion and Collective Memory in the Middle East” is a page turner you won’t be able to put down.
As you’ll see in this episode, the situation is much more complicated that it looks and most of our preconceptions about why things are the way they are in that region are wrong. It’s a thrilling book, a terrific author and a fascinating interview.
