They are a private companies, yes, but the product they offer is a public forum and when they use arbitrary and politically discriminatory standards to suppress one side of the political aisle while promoting the other and when their services become ubiquitous with public use, does that change how they should operate? It’s a complicated issue that may require a multi-layered solution but in this conversation, Josh Crawford of the Pegasus Institute and I successfully simplify it enough to start a solid debate on the issue. One way or another, we must support free speech, even the speech we hate. The answer for bad speech is more good speech.
